◆ PRIVACY
Privacy Policy
Effective October 13, 2026
gonzalogil.com is my personal website. This page explains, in plain language, what the site collects when you visit, why, and what you can do about it.
- The only personal information I receive directly is what you type into the contact form: your name, your email and your note, plus the IP address the message came from.
- I use one analytics tool, Google Analytics, to see how the site is used. It never receives what you type.
- Your settings for the 3D site stay in your own browser.
- There are no ads, and I never sell your information.
WHO
Who runs this site
This site is run by me, Gonzalo Gil, as an individual, from South Florida in the United States. In this policy, “I” and “me” mean me, and “the site” means gonzalogil.com.
The way to reach me, about privacy or anything else, is the contact form on the main page (Send a signal). I don’t publish an email address or a mailing address on this site.
CONTACT FORM
What the contact form collects
The form asks for three things: your name, your email address and your note. It also has a hidden field that people never see. Spam bots tend to fill it in, and a message with that field filled in is thrown away.
When you send a message, my server also records the date and time and the IP address it came from.
Why
- To read your message and reply to you at the email address you gave.
- To stop abuse: the IP address is used to limit how many messages one address can send (five per hour) and to spot spam.
Where it goes
- The message is emailed to my personal inbox, which is hosted by Google (Gmail).
- A copy is saved on my own server, together with the date, time and IP address, and appears in a private notification log that runs on my own computers.
- Those files are included in my private backups.
I don’t add you to a mailing list, and I don’t use your message for marketing. Messages travel over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Google Analytics only learns whether a message was sent or failed. It never learns your name, your email or what you wrote.
ANALYTICS
Google Analytics
I use Google Analytics 4, a service from Google, to understand how people find and use the site. It loads only for visitors on the public internet, not for my own testing.
It collects:
- which pages you view, how you arrived (for example, the site that linked to you here) and how long you stay;
- general information about your device: device type, browser, operating system, screen size and language;
- your approximate location, such as country and city. Google works this out from your IP address. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses;
- how you use the 3D site, such as which areas you open, whether you start the guided flight, which settings you change, the graphics quality your device runs at, which links you click, how far you scroll, and whether a contact message was sent. These events are counts and choices only. They never include anything you type.
Analytics data is kept for 14 months, the retention setting I chose in Google Analytics.
Opting out: install Google’s Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or use a content blocker. The site works fully without Google Analytics.
SERVICE PROVIDERS
Who helps run the site
- Cloudflare delivers the site and protects it from attacks. Every request to gonzalogil.com passes through Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and basic request details to do that. Your browser may also send Cloudflare reports about network errors.
- Google provides Google Analytics (above) and the Gmail inbox that contact messages are delivered to.
Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy: Cloudflare and Google.
The site itself runs on my own computers. Its fonts and code are served from gonzalogil.com, with no third-party fonts, embedded videos, social media widgets or ad networks. My server keeps a basic technical log (time, page requested, response code) for troubleshooting. Because traffic reaches it through Cloudflare, that log does not contain your IP address.
Links to other sites, such as LinkedIn, Facebook or Crunchbase, take you to services with their own privacy policies.
SHARING
I never sell your information
I don’t sell or rent personal information, and I don’t share it for advertising. The site shows no ads. I share information only with the providers above as needed to run the site, or if the law requires it.
RETENTION
How long things are kept
- Contact messages are kept until I delete them. There is no automatic deletion. If you ask, I’ll delete your message from my inbox and my server.
- Backup copies roll off automatically, within about five weeks.
- The anti-abuse counter (IP address and send times) is held in memory for one hour and is never written to disk.
- Analytics data is kept for 14 months.
- Browser storage stays on your device until you clear it.
YOUR CHOICES
Your rights and how to use them
You can ask me what information I have about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Send the request through the contact form and include the email address you used before, so I can find your messages. I may reply to that address to confirm that the request really comes from you.
Google Analytics data isn’t linked to your name or email, so I usually can’t find one person’s analytics records. To stop that data from being collected, use the opt-out add-on or a content blocker (see Analytics).
Depending on where you live (for example, the EU, the UK or California), the law may give you more rights. I’ll answer your request wherever you live. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
CHILDREN
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent me a message, contact me and I’ll delete it.
CHANGES
Changes to this policy
If the site starts collecting something new, I’ll update this page and the effective date at the top before the change takes effect.
